Can I take the entire course from home or do I have to attend a "test site"?
The majority of the course can be completed from home. The final exam, however, must be taken at an official test site in Delaware. How long does it take to get the certificate?
There are different ways of receiving the completion certificate. Because of security reasons, it is impossible for you to print your own certificate, so the original certificate must be sent directly from our office to you. When you enroll, you may choose for regular mail or expedited service.

    Does the course cost anything?
Unfortunately, there is a cost to attend Delaware Online Defensive Driving. The price will cover all elements of the course including immediate access to the site and the completion certificate. Regular in-class defensive driving school courses charge similar fees. Defensive driving courses are a privately operated industry and whether you sit in a class or choose this online program, you will need to pay for it.

How can I pay for the course?
You can pay for the course two different ways, either by credit card or by check/ money order. After you fill out the registration form, you can be linked to a completely secure credit card page where you pay quickly and effortlessly. The site is encrypted to make your on-line purchase safe. The other way to pay for the course is to mail a check or money order. Make sure to send the check before you complete the course or your certificate will not be mailed.

What if my deadline for completion of the defensive driving course has passed?
Contact your court or state directly for instructions regarding extension of your due date. Delaware Online Defensive Driving cannot extend your due date.

Whatever computer you use, you simply need Internet access. You can also start on your own computer and then finish on another. *This program also works with WEBTV.

Must I complete this course in one sitting?
Delaware Online Defensive Driving is designed for the person who does not have a lot of time. The course is broken up into numerous sections. You can complete one segment, for example, log off, and then log back on at a later time, and the computer will record the section you have completed. I just got knocked off line in the middle of a section. What do I do now?
Many Internet users are knocked off line frequently. This may result from a lost Internet connection, another call interrupting your connection if you are on a single line with call waiting, or simply because your own computer crashes. Remember, as you complete each section of the course, your progress is logged. Completion of chapter one, for example, cannot be lost if your answers are submitted to the system and graded on screen. Being knocked off line at that point, will only bring you back to the start of the next chapter, it will not delete chapter one. Our website is unable to control your Internet connection and inactivity on your part will not result in our system knocking you off line. Any activity requirements will be on the part of your Internet service provider.

Are there any special computer or download requirements to participate in the course?
There are no videos to download in our program and no special requirements at all of your computer. If you are on this screen and on our website, you can enroll and complete the course without a problem.

What happens if I fail the final? Can I take it again?
You may take the final an unlimited number of times without having to pay a retake fee. A new final will appear on screen immediately when you fail. You will have mutliple times to pass the final exam, if needed. The tuition includes the entire program and the completion certificate. If you do not pass, you will be able to retake our program immediately at no additional charge.

    Information Regarding Violations

Purpose: The Driver Improvement Problem Driver Program is designed to identify problem drivers, to change the problem driver’s behavior by providing information and training opportunities and, if necessary, to progressively impose sanctions as more convictions/points are accumulated on individuals driving record. This program is governed by Division Policy Regulation #45. The goal of the program is crash prevention. The steps in the program are geared to the seriousness of the driving record and may result in an advisory letter, mandatory suspension, and/or completion of a behavioral modification/attitudinal-driving course. A reinstatement fee of $25.00 must be paid to the Division of Motor Vehicles in order to reinstate the license.
